Ailsa Black
Ailsa Black works from a seaside studio in the tiny village of Carsethorn in Dumfries and Galloway in her native Scotland. From the quiet studio at the top of her house, she observes and portrays village life, finding inspiration for her paintings in the countryside, animals and birds surrounding her. Ailsa's partner Alan and their failed sheepdog, Jack, also make frequent appearances in her joyful paintings. Ailsa's colourful and uplifting art celebrates the happiness and simplicity of the good things in life, cherished moments of quiet companionship when the world seems at peace. In her free time, you'll find Ailsa riding her bicycle around the quiet, local roads or rambling with Jack along the shore or up in the hills to discover peaceful, tranquil places. Here she watches the passing animals and birds, imagining secret conversations between them.
