Jonathan Sanders
Born in 1959, Jonathan Sanders obtained his Fine Arts Degree in the 1970s from North Staffordshire University. Having finished his degree, he was hit with an urge to travel, and he took himself off to Africa. On his travels, Jonathan painted depictions of very different environments from Islamic Coastlines to the lusher Game Reserves. He also became interested in the wildlife, people and native African art. Jonathan sees his paintbrush as a tool to capture the pure beauty of Africa; Despite its problems and strife, Africa is simplified to its true magnificent state through Jonathan's paintings. Listening to music as he works helps to inspire Jonathan's art and his love of Africa has only intensified the hues of reds, golds and earthy tones that he uses in his work. He works mainly in acrylics which he finds are perfect for building up colour and texture.
