Simon Howden
Simon Howden trained in fine art and worked in the graphic design industry for over 30years. Influenced by the surrounding Wiltshire landscape, he operates in both watercolours and oils with an illustrative approach to these mediums in a mixture of styles, from photo-realism to loose abstract, working with sensitive mark making and vibrant colours. Recent works in oil using a rich impasto colour application and by the utilisation of a pallet knife has led to an impressive folio that venture into suggestions of landscape with additional elements of nature - ‘geometric abstraction’. Each piece takes on an organic flow of their own which can direct the work in an entirely different direction dependent upon the results.
